North West Hospice-led study receives international acclaim through publication in European Journal of Palliative Care.
Jacinta Kelly, Clinical Nurse Specialist, North West Hospice and Dymphna O’Connell Dept. of Nursing, St. Angela’s College, Sligo, conducted a study titled “The Dementia Patient’s Pathway through Specialist Palliative Care Services”.
The findings received international acclaim when they were published in two articles in the European Journal of Palliative Care
Part I explored the perceptions of the role of specialist palliative care services and the journey of dementia patients, through healthcare professionals perspectives.
Part II explored the perception of the role of specialist palliative care services, through the carer’s/family’s perspective.
These findings have been widely well-received and presented locally, nationally and internationally.
