Thank you for your interest in serving as a board member for the North West Hospice.

Time Commitment and Location:

  • Board members serve a term up to 9 years. We are happy to consider shorter commitments based on the individual profile.
  • Anticipated commitment is between 6 and 10 hours per month (5-6 board meeting annually (3h) + subcommittee meeting (1-2h) + preparation time /reading documentation between meeting).
  • Meetings take place mostly in person but some on online for ease of attendance. However, all directors must be able to attend locations in Sligo/Leitrim for physical meetings. Board members should be prepared for some preparatory work in advance of each meeting as pre-reads are sent in advance of meetings.

Training and Support:

  • New board members will receive induction, training, and support, ensuring a smooth transition into the role.

Expectations and Benefits:

  • Expectations include acting in the best interests of the North West Hospice, preparing for meetings, and respecting confidentiality.
  • In return, board directors gain new skills, make a positive impact in their communities, build valuable networks, and experience leadership in a supportive environment.
