On the 23rd of February 2024, Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly T.D. officially launched the construction of a new €14 million in-patient HSE funded unit at North West Hospice. While the current in-patient unit has faithfully served the community for over 25 years with its seven beds, this groundbreaking project heralds a new chapter.

It introduces a cutting-edge facility featuring 12 single rooms and essential outpatient amenities. By expanding the existing infrastructure and renovating the current unit to accommodate our multidisciplinary Palliative Care team, this development promises a significantly enhanced physical structure, further elevating the already exceptional specialist palliative care offered by North West Hospice. The addition of extra beds will increase capacity by over a third, effectively addressing the growing demand for the service. The project aims for completion by the end of 2025.
