Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly T.D. launches the construction of a new €14 million in-patient HSE funded unit at North West Hospice

On the 23rd of February 2024, Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly T.D. officially launched the construction of a new €14 million in-patient HSE funded unit at North West Hospice. While the current in-patient unit has faithfully served the community for over 25 years with its seven beds, this groundbreaking project heralds a new chapter.

It introduces a cutting-edge facility featuring 12 single rooms and essential outpatient amenities. By expanding the existing infrastructure and renovating the current unit to accommodate our multidisciplinary Palliative Care team, this development promises a significantly enhanced physical structure, further elevating the already exceptional specialist palliative care offered by North West Hospice. The addition of extra beds will increase capacity by over a third, effectively addressing the growing demand for the service. The project aims for completion by the end of 2025. The Charity is wholeheartedly committed to supporting the construction process, ensuring minimal disruptions to our patients and their loved ones.
